Qualifying Marks Criteria

Selection Process Flow

  1. Online Application

    • Apply through the official CIL website: www.coalindia.in
    • Pay the application fee
    • Upload required documents
    • Submit before the deadline: 14-Feb-2025, 6:00 PM
  2. Computer-Based Test (CBT)

    • Admit cards will be available through individual login
    • Test will be conducted in various selected cities
    • Total duration: 3 hours (both papers)
    • Question papers will be bilingual (English & Hindi)
  3. Merit List Preparation

    • Merit list will be prepared solely based on marks obtained in the CBT
    • No interview process
    • Merit list will be prepared category-wise
  4. Document Verification & Medical Examination

    • Shortlisted candidates will be called for document verification
    • Initial Medical Examination (IME) as per CIL guidelines
    • Medical fitness is mandatory
  5. Final Selection & Posting

    • Offer of appointment will be issued after successful document verification and medical examination
    • Candidates will sign a service agreement bond
    • Posting to a subsidiary company based on availability
    • Candidates will undergo joining formalities

Important Guidelines

  • Test Cities:
    Candidates can choose up to three test cities in order of preference. Final allocation will be at CIL’s discretion, and changes may occur based on applicant numbers.

  • Response Query Management:
    A response query window will be available 3 days after the CBT completion. Candidates have 5 days to submit objections online.

  • Bond Requirement:
    A service agreement bond of ₹3 Lakhs is required. The minimum service period is 60 months, with a monthly deduction of ₹5,000, refundable after completion of the bond period.

  • Medical Standards:
    Candidates must meet the medical standards as per CIL Medical Attendance Rules. The medical committee’s decision will be final. There are specific standards for candidates applying for the Security discipline.

  • Posting Preferences:
    Candidates can provide three preferences for subsidiary company posting. Final posting will depend on vacancy availability and may require relocation anywhere in India.


Special Provisions

  1. For PwD Candidates:

    • Scribe facility is available as per government guidelines
    • Additional time is provided as per norms
    • Specific disability categories for each discipline
  2. For Departmental Candidates:

    • No age limit and no application fee
    • NOC from the current department is required
  3. For Ex-Servicemen:

    • Age relaxation as per government guidelines
    • Special consideration for Security discipline
    • Service certificate required
